We do not need a monument, except
perhaps to honour our own stupidity. Any future society sharp enough
to dig it up will be able to figure out what it is, and if they are
not, well, maybe the next ones will be. It really hurts me to think
of all the real good that, this money farax recommended could do for
poor, old and sick Somalilanders in need. Let us have no more
monuments to politicians. The practice of creating their likenesses
in larger-than-life imagery is unbecoming of a republic which
supposedly values the rule of law over the rule of men. I attribute
much of this intolerance to the various monuments the government has
named after. The intention of these monuments are not so much to
inform as it is to indoctrinate.
One of the hardest experiences we ever face in life is dealing with
the loss of a loved one whether are politician or non politicians.
But, at this crucial time each of us must overcome our overwhelming
feelings and deal with the hard issues at hand such as poverty,
security, health and many more . It is hard enough to deal with the
death at hand, but it would be harder still to have to worry about
the costs involved with the building monuments for politicians
especially those who are alive It's incredibly disappointing and
unethical for someone to write such an article, while majority of
somaliland citizens are poor, lack of healthcare and in economic
crisis . Farah's recommendation was abhor, ridiculous and it seemed
that absence of common sense ( no offence that is the fact). How
tragic that we live in a nation that tries to justify overspending
on decor and underspending on basic human needs during this brief
era of fiscal and material excess. How tragic that we are,
collectively, more outspoken and more united about city entrances
than we are about our homeless population or our environmental
footprint.
In my opinion what is Important for somaliland people and the
nation's security. On people -- human intelligence. What is a fee
for an CID agent? Can we hire a thousand CIDs agents for the same
amount of money? That sounds like a way better security investment.
It's the philosophy. "Will this make us safer?" is the wrong
question to ask. The right question to ask is: is it worth it? Many
things that will make us safer aren't worth it. We also have to look
at the underlying policies that bring about the situation. You can
imagine living in a community where the landlord keeps hornets'
nests, and he keeps whacking the nests. And then he keeps telling
you, you need to buy protective clothing. He's right, but I wish
he'd stop whacking the nest. In a sense that's what we are doing.
Far better for our security would be to deal with the underlying
geopolitical situations that cause the problem. That may be
politically untenable, but as far as security concerns, that is the
best way to spend citizens' money.
Yes! it is important that we remember everyone who has given the
ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It is also important that we
never forget who they are. But how can we remember our heroes? well
! this is my recommendation
Recommendation:
Build monument for SNM heroes in general that catch our attention
and symbolize our most violent moments and victory
Build monument that stand for those who have sacrificed their lives
to make our present and future possible.
Education
I would consider suggesting making requirements based on methods not
on outcomes. Instead of Boycotting major AIRLINES and local
businesses I would suggest making requirements about what the
schools need to provide. Namely, I would suggest requiring that all
children and students under a local government receive complete
healthcare for the schools to get education funding from the
government and major Local Businesses.
promote upward mobility through expanded child-care assistance,
"early education for all" and stepped-up efforts to make higher
education more accessible.
Requiring Healthcare
Construct Hargaysa General Hospital: Hospital with more than 65% of
family physicians., Hospital that offers a wide range of programs
and services.
Trains staff and physicians that would maintain high standards and
are flexible and innovative.
Improve access through appropriate design and efficiencies
Enhance patient flow through services and hospitals
Improve access to surgical services
Reduce hospitalizations by shifting to more day care and outpatient
service
Implement best practices across the region
Employments:
Community economic development through employment services
Information on social and environmental issues including human
rights, community and economic development, health - social action
Bring Somaliland business communities together to form partnerships
and encourage economic self sufficiency - Foundation for the
Advancement of Somalilanders Youth - links education and training
with business and employment opportunities.
Basically, I see two general methods of solving that problem.
Firstly, we need to find a way to alleviate and hopefully eradicate
poverty so that all people have enough money to buy what they need
by outbidding other people who want the resources for luxuries.
Secondly, we need to find a new and fairer way to distribute
resources, namely natural resources such as land, water, and so
forth. As I have said before, I believe we can end poverty by
ensuring that all people have an equal right to natural resources. I
believe most of the cost of products such as food come from the high
cost of obtaining usage rights of the natural resources used in
their production.
Poor people generally are not poor because they lack labour or the
willingness to work hard to get what they need. What leaves them
poor, despite their abundance of labour, is generally their lack of
rights to the usage and control of resources.
Poor countries have to fight corruption, put the needs of the poor
first, give voice to the grassroots. But rich countries can help by
reforming trade rules and yes, by aid. They need outside resources
to pay for AIDS drugs, to build roads and sanitation systems. Let
the public & private sectors focus on attacking corruption,
government indifference, bad policies, but also recognize that their
countries can’t go it alone- they need trading opportunities and
they need development aid that supports local priorities and
empowers local people.
I am a true believer in microfinance, and it can’t be worse than
investing in our financial system at the moment! Every individual
has an impact on society, the issue is whether we will accept the
responsibility and acknowledge that we can work towards improvement.
of the main issues facing our Nation - education, poverty, security
- poverty is where the average person can truly make a difference.
show your concern, share your passion with friends, family and
co-workers, donate to your local food pantry and make any financial
donation to worthy international groups. attack the problem at both
points!!

and Unity
