Mohamed Bihi Yonis is distinguished in Intellect, Personality and
Vision.
Mohamed Yonis will be great steward of Somaliland's national
sovereignty and inter ests in accordance with the president’s
formulated foreign policy. He has ample man agement and operational
experience on the world stage and his nomination will cer tainly
bolster Somaliland’s foreign affairs. He is man of integrity with
towering intell ect and diplomatic poise steeped in current
international affairs.
The memories Somaliland people hold and experience of their nation
is what will affe ct its outlook on the international stage and
Mohamed Yonis will be able to best tra nslate it especially at a time
when Somaliland is facing the revival of Somali at the end of their
eight long year transitional government, the current strain with the
UN and the brewing dispute of the Nile between its ally and Egypt.
He is a leader of paragon stature, with a capacity to understand
with ease and asce rtain viable solutions to the most strenuous
issues that have polarized the internati onal community. It was with
this background that United Nations Secretary-General and African
Union Chairperson chose him for their cooperative mission in Darfur
as the deputy Representative for Operations & Management. His career
with UN inclu ded Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator
for the Middle East Peace Proce ss (UNSCO), as well Chief
Administrative Officer with the United Nations Truce Super vision
Organization (UNTSO).
In his previous career prior to joining the UN, he held various
senior positions at the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan
Ivory Coast including Adviser to the President of the Bank. The
African Development Bank has been the most instrumen tal organ in the
recent economic transformation and social progress in Africa.
The credit goes to President Ahmed M. M. Silanyo for utilizing
