Abdirazak H. Hussein’s Hatred of Somaliland
after 50 years

In an exclusive interview to the BBC the second Prime Minister of the former Somali Republic (Italian Somalia and Republic of Somaliland) Mr. Abdirazak Haji Hussein strongly opposed the recognition of Somaliland, as a separate sovereign state.

One would not be surprised at his position, but it is unfortunate that his ignorance – lack of education – and his hatred of the people of Somaliland can be easily deduced,
after almost half a century.

MP. Abdirazak was the man whose lack of vision and foresight – both which can attained through education, but which he lucked – were a set back and obstacle to his government.

During his visit to Hargeisa as Prime Minister, the people turned then back while he was addressing them at a very large rally. It was a sign of protest by the people to the head of the government. His answer was ‘YOU LOOK BETTER

WITH YOUR BACK TURNED.”

This answer should not have been given by a Prime Minister, but it is an indicator of his lack of intellect. Those who know him were not surprised for they know that he was not fit to be a Prime Minister.

In his executive interview; he criticized the late president of Somaliland Mohamed Ibrahim Egal. Historians and those who lived in the 60’s will not be surprised for Egal was the man, who politically isolated him, After forcing him to leave SYL Party – which he was one of the founders. He began a one-man party called DABKA. His interview against Somaliland’s recognition shows that his hatred towards Somaliland has not diminished even after half century.

Reasons he gave for opposing recognition are sufficient evidence of his anti-Somaliland attitude, although he is old and experienced.

He said; “The world is moving towards unity. Is Africa part of he world? if so, let us look of the movements going on in different parts of the continent.” What happened to the mergers of states that decided to break their unity? Has not he heard about Egypt-Syria or Senegal and Gambia among others?

The honorable PM spoke about Europe’s unity. He is right that they are moving towards one; but has he forgotten about the Soviet Union or Yugoslavia? Is he blinded by his hatred for the late president and Somaliland? Or his statement was based on ethnic opposition?

He spoke that the world can not swallow 5 Somali states. He is right, but has he lost the power of perception. Did he forget that Somaliland is and was a sovereign state before the merger? Has he forgotten that Puntland (Eastern Region of Somalia) has been a region in the Italian Colony of Somalia and that it is a regional administration and part of Somalia even today? Are the states of Somalia – Not Greater Somalia – part of his hallucination in his hatred for Somaliland and what it stands for?

He threatened Ethiopia, Kenya and Africa states that their recognition of Somaliland will bring about their disintegration as a state? What happened to Ethiopia when it recognized Eritrea? The answer is nothing.

I don’t know whether you will live long enough to see the Day Somaliland will be recognized, but remember you never dreamed that Italian Somalia will be independent, the day you swallowed the paper. That was heroic although your fear of being arrested by the Italians was the cause for that? You were a politician when the majority of African countries became independent? You were hiving abroad when the Soviet Union crumpled. But it looks as if you are not learning anything

From what has been going on in the world, during your life as a politician. Other might wonder why, but I we are not, for we know your feeble mind and the incurable wound inflicted on you. A wound that will never heal.
