West London Somaliland Community (WLSC) is pleased to invite you to attend to the Somaliland Community Education Award, which will take place on the 13th November 2010 at Uxbridge College (Hayes Campus), College Way, Coldharbour lane, Hayes, UB3 3BB. The event will start at 5pm.

The Somaliland Community Education Award aims to empower the community by promoting its  ach ievement and success, and encouraging young Somalilanders to aim high and achieve their  aspirat ions. It is also to show appreciation to individuals and organizations that contribute to the  educa tion and in general to the development of the Somaliland community here in the UK as well as in  t he Republic of Somaliland.

This year, the award event will bring different people and generations together and promise to be very fascinating. Besides the GCSE, Diplomas and Degrees achievers, WLSC is pleased to present Awards to some of the greatest artists that have so much enriched the Somaliland performing  ar ts and made the Republic of Somaliland home of the Somali performing arts. These visiting artists are: Ahmed Saleman Bide the renowned lyric composer and play writer, Amina Abdillahi, one of the greatest Somaliland female vocalist and the hilarious comedian and actor Boon Hirsi, who, despite his recent loss of sight, is still able to perform and make his crowds cheer with joy. In this year, W LSC will also present awards to the Darlington Foundation Trust, who sponsors the top Somaliland students to study and do their Master degrees at Cambridge University, the first beneficiary of  t he Darlington Foundation Trust sponsorship, Dr Jama Musse Jama a publisher and writer who  pro motes the written word in the Somaliland culture and other individuals who make difference in the lives of the Somaliland people.


The Somaliland Community Education Award will be presented to its winners by the Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Hillingdon Councilor Mary O’Connor, the Hayes & Harlington MP John  Mc Donnell, the Member of European Parliament for London Dr Charles Tannock, Somaliland  Ambassad or in UK his Excellency Mr. Aden Musse Jibril and the foreign policy adviser to the president of the Republic of Somaliland Dr Mohamed-Rashid Sheikh Hassan.
