Open Letter to President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud (Siilaanyo):
Fire Finance Minister Mohamed Hashi Elmi
Mr. President there is no question that your
administration restored public confidence and t rust in
the government and you are highly regarded inside the
country and around the world. Your government is truly a
government for the people and by the people.
However, this confidence and trust has been severely
undermined and tarnished by the recen t actions of your
Finance Minister Mr. Mohamed Hashi Elmi.
Many people inside and outside of the country are angry
and extremely troubled by Mr. Moha med Hash’s unprovoked,
baseless and unsubstantiated corruption accusations
against your minister of Mining, Energy and Water
Resources Mr. Hussein Abdi Dualeh.
By all accounts Mr. Hussein Abdi Dualeh is one of the
most respected, effective, honest and productive members
of the current Somaliland government ministers.
As you know Mr. President, before you recruited Engineer
Hussein Abdi Dualeh for his current position, Mr.
Hussein Abdi Dualeh was living comfortably in Los
Angeles, California, managing twice the budget of
Somaliland for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan
Transportation Autho rity (Metro).
‘It’s a sacrifice. I was making
a six-figure salary and
drove a Mercedes, but dropped it all to c ome here,’ says Dualeh, ‘I want to see if I can help the country of my
birth.’ ‘They promised to have an effective government
and to have qualified people in the right positions,’
says Duale h.

Somaliland’s Diaspora: From manager to minister
in a flash (Feature) By Michael Logan.
Mr. Mohamed Hashi’s unsubstantiated accusations are not
about corruption and money; this is about outright
character assassination. If this was Riyaale regime
Mohamed Hashi would have been back in Mandheera by now.
Mr. Mohamed Hashi’’s action is sending the wrong message
to highly educated Somalilanders who are thinking about
coming back home to contribute to the development and
the well-bei ng of their beloved Somaliland.
Mr. President, where is the accountability within your
cabinet? You should not allow bullying and backstabbing
within your cabinet.
Mr. President, so far your regime is highly regarded but
if you do not take action, incidents like this will have
a lasting damage to your credibility and the Integrity
of your administration and the Republic of Somaliland.
Mr. President, due to your silence on this issue, it
appears that you are condoning and tolera ting Mr.
Mohamed Hashi’s unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.
Mr. President, when he is done with your cabinet
members, who is his next target? You - Mr. President.
Mr. President, it is time for you to make Mr. Mohamed
Hashi held accountable for his actions. It is time for
you to fire Mr. Mohamed Hashi. It is time for Mr.
Mohamed Hashi Elmi to go.
