I want to respond to the article of SOMALILAND:
Expansion of Egal Airport officially launched
Somaliland government played Russian roulette in
Business
Does Somaliland have a backup for a project failure in
Egal international airport with the Chin a H olo Group
who won the tender bidding? Who is accountable for
project failure, the china Holo Gro up or the Somaliland
government? Or does the minister of Aviation Mohamud
Hashi acting as an executive manager in the airport
Hargeysa?
Anyway, according of a number of authors outline four
principal categories of project failure (Lyy tinen and
Hirchcheim, 1987), (Yeo, 2002) and ( Goulielmos, 2003).
Many projects have a number of causes of failure
similarities. The causes of failure can be grouped into
the followi ng categori es.
1. Failure to take into account the needs and influences
of stakeholders ( I mean between Somali land government
and the China Holo Group)
2. Lack of attention to the impact of project work on
the normal expansion airport Hargeysa.
3. Failure to identify and deal with the many risks that
can affect achievement of expansion airp ort objectives(
I mean did the government of Somaliland paid
compensation to the 40 houses it destroyed in the
surroundings of the airport Egal international airport 2
weeks ago. According of your article about the news of
expansion of Egal international airport, nothing was
declared the families compensation of illegal houses
destruction.)
4. Insufficient attention to planning, monitoring and
control of the work of the project (Decision-making
failures).
And another analysis, about selling to Dahabshiil
Business man to an area own by Somalilanders communities
result with an arms revolt that cause dead in both side.
Also, it almost created a te nsion between Suldan of
Jibril Abokor and ex-minister of UDUB. In the business
world, nepotism is showing favouritism toward one's
members of the family or friends in economic or
employment te rms. For instance, granting favours or
jobs to friends and relatives, while not regard to
advanta ge, could be thought of nepotism. Consequently
several Somalilanders have lost their lives and others
uprooted from their ancestral lands as a result of
government clashes manifested through unfair and unjust
allocation of national resources designed by malice and
nepotism.
Nepotism in Somaliland Businesses
These practices will have damaging effects on
Somaliland, anti-nepotism are guidelines that stop
lineages (by clan or conjugal) from operating within the
same department or government. However, in several
smaller, family-owned businesses, nepotism is viewed in
additional terms that are positive. Members of the
family are trained in varied aspects of management to
confirm the continuity of the corporate when members of
the sooner generation retire or die. In fact, in seve
ral tiny businesses nepotism is taken into account a
synonym for "succession." So, Somaliland is n ot a small
business own by the President Ahmed Silanyo entourage.
President Ahmed Silanyo is that the third president
elected of Somaliland. The Buhoodle affair is
embarrassing for the president, who came to power one
year ago, promising to finish "an imperial form of
presidency" that had become the norm within the Horn
African country. Then, he creates a bureau of
anti-corruption, but what is happening in 2011-2012 is
unlike not seen by most Somal ilanders.
UDUB’s former ruling party has defended ex-President
Dahir Riyaale ‘s appointment of equal distri bution of
tribesmen and loyalists in alternative influential
positions . Dahir Riyaale was accused of nepotism
throughout his time in presidency.
I will say to the President Ahmed Silanyo regarding
tribalism, your administration simply fired exi sting
civil servants by replacing your own men or women with
no experience into specific key str ategic services
relying only upon their academic and skilled background
and loyalty to your party Kulmiye. And you did not rely
on experience and competence of former civil servants
employed by UDUB party. And that will work in term of
democracy but not when you have 3 fronts to fight;
Somalia Union on discussion, Buhoodle warfare and
Somaliland future at same time, no governme nt with no
experience civil servants and not negotiation with 2
older parties UDUB and UCID will be your downfall and
your administration.
If the war on tribalism is ever to be won within the
country, then the state should make sure that
appointments in Government establishments are true
reflections of the tribes of Somaliland prim arily based
on advantage and professionalism and not simply one sub
clan or party affiliation dom inating the whole
Government offices.
