The evolution of Siilanyonisim

Authors note
When some one consciously betrays communities who trusted him, does
that person have the tendency to betray the larger community-
Somaliland?
Can that person govern justly and lead a just society?
Can he hold the fraternity and unity of the communities of
Somaliland?
Can he maintain the trust and support of the people as long as
needed?
Can he hold and maintain the security and the safety of the nation?
Can he safeguard the dignity and the territorial sovereignty of the
Republic?
This is a legitimate question to raise and to be addressed or
remedied in this end.
…And don’t forget the author is following what the prophet of Allah
advised to the believers. The prophet (cs) said, “unsur akhaaka
thaalimen ow mathloomen” ‘come to the aid of your brother when he is
wronged as well as when her wrongs’ How when he wrongs? Stop him to
do that by telling him the truth. The author believes, he his
helping the brother who wronged, President Siilanyo in this case.
Brothers and sisters who may take the authors intent other than
this, are in the wrong.
Another ‘ism’, “what is it?” It is a suffix which means a
distinctive doctrine or principle, an Adherence! “Siilnyonisim, what
is it?” Some define it as ingratitude in its ugly face! It means: no
reward for work rendered! It also means: ‘run away those who
delivered and reach those who did not!’ it means what it is,
Siilanyonism!
It metamorphosed from nicety, to nasty by evolution!
When Mr. Siilanyo was the opposition he cried, “Man unsaaree ilayaa?”
who in the name of every thing can come to my aid? Who can stick
with me all the way? And who can deliver.
When Mr. Siilanyo, of yesterday was making that appeal, aside from
his ridding, two communities answered that call. They were Gabiley
and Houd communities as well as others of course, but the said two
communities became the main bases of the Kulmiye party for both the
first and the last elections, and not only that, they delivered.
When what they sow grew and bore fruit and the Kulmiye party won a
brand new people who did not deliver but with out side connections
took over! An out side hand (s) took over to manage this according
to the prevailing believe in Hargeisa!
When the mentioned two bases of Kulmiye shouted from behind, a voice
came out from the hall said, “Yesterday was yesterday and to day is
another day” then the doors were closed on their face. They left the
scene never make sense of what they saw and what they heard! While
in their way out another voice shouted behind them and said, “you
did not learn from 1988, 89 when the brother was the chairman of SNM!
This is called the evolution of ‘Siilanyonism, do you get it now?”
the voice concluded
They left the place not even understanding what this “ism”
phenomenon mean! Moreover they were not alone in this exodus! The
party was with them too! On their way to their homes yet another
voice shouted after them and said, “hay people this ‘ism’ means
Siilanyonisim, which means a) once you reach your destination, you
don’t know any body except the ones you want to know or recommended
to whether they delivered or not! Another day another situation! b)
Forget every thing else, just follow where your interest leads you
where ever that goes. Don’t for get the wisdom- ‘the end justifies,
the means!” ’.Siilanyonian’ indeed!
The ex-chairman of kulmiye party and now the president of the
Republic betrayed the faithful who made him what he is now. The vote
deliverers became the recipients of a pre-meditated betrayal! Others
who did not deliver reaped the fruits planted by the betrayed!
This is an unprecedented move amounts to evilly!
In this move he also washed his hands from the party and the real
party men and women of the party as well as the party agenda, as the
party men believe!
Any serious person or entity listens what the people are saying.
They look themselves in the mirror and then correct self before
curse descend on them and on the Mother- Somaliland, God for bid,
because of the sin committed against those who trusted him
In the end and despite all that, it is incumbent upon every
Somalilander to support the president by telling him the truth.
“Allah is not shy to tell the truth” (Ina laaha laa yestaxyee minal
xaq) (from the Quran)
Introduction
Riyaale’s government ended in disgrace and disarray like George
Orwell's animal farm government.
Allegedly, they looted and left the nation’s treasury empty; however
no body brought them to court for this accusation! On the contrary
the president was courted the big guns of the preceded government in
close doors, what ever that means!
But unlike Kulmiye leader they did not betray their loyal
supporters! That was one thing they can be comparatively remembered.
Reyaale did not betray his loyal supporters! Mr. Siilanyo did, and
that is one difference as well!
Silanyo’s government started in duplicity. He betrayed his bases as
well as his life time supporters from SNM days to the creation of
kulmiye party! Kulmiye party ended in deceiving and denigrated those
who trusted him and supported him from day one of Kulmiye's
founding! He stood on the wrong side of the Godly command:
“Haljazaaul ixsaan illalixsaan”! (Is there any reward for good-other
than good?)
Those who built the party with Mr. Siilanyo, trusted him and
honestly supported him, continuously and consistently and delivered
the product do not deserve to be betrayed! How can one explain such
evil act?
Beside other factors I don't like to dwell on, the prevalent opinion
is that other people did the list of the government for him! I don't
know about that and I don’t care about it a bit but the end product
was no good! We are talking about social just here!
When the election was over and the loyal base or bases gave him the
winning number Mr. Siilanyo turned on his heels and what he has done
amounted to this: “Lo’ I am clear of you. You gave me what I wanted.
I don’t need you any more. I need to appease my adversaries and
alien with them now. I see what you see not. I see my own interest
and nothing else! I reached my target. I will not ask your support
next time. I don’t care who may pay my sin, politically in the
future I am done." Au-re-voir" by, by”!
That is how some people included my self interpreted Mr. Siilanyo's
unseen and ungodly action! Also unless corrected Mr. Siilanyo will
leave a legacy of betrayal “Betray them in the end- those who
believe in you and trust you and support you"! Siilaniyan, indeed!
The popular expectation was that he, Mr.Siilanyo will form a just,
formidable vibrant and muscular administration, instead we see the
betrayer of the faithful, and president for all of us delegated his
job to Ministers who exhibited impotence and who are out of touch
with the people! Proof of this was the people he delegated to
address the problems in the East regions and the West region early
in his presidency. It was a dismal shockingly a dismal disaster no
matter how they twist!
Most of the time they don’t read from the same page! Recently two
Ministers in the same place (Berbera) at the same time on the same
subject (Maxjar) told two very different government policies to
their audience! That shows Siilanyo’s government doesn’t have any
policy for any thing or the Ministers do not know about it! Which
one is true? When things are like that the law of unintended
consequences will takes place and here it did!
Betrayer and the betrayed!
Kulmiye faithful ran in to the arms of their leader Mr. Siilanyo but
they found their leaders arms unfaithful, cold and cunning!! They
realized then that their votes were sold with out their consent; as
a result they become disappointed and dismayed! People pulled back,
stood in total disappointment, bewildered as they found that they
were premeditatedly betrayed! Some put their hands on their heads,
others on their cheeks and it seems the hands are frozen on there in
disbelieve!
The victory of Kulmiye and Kulmiy supporters turned out to be an
absolute trick than treat for Kulmiye-the party, and Kulmiyatis!
This ungodly cheat or trick or betrayal came from no other than the
ex-chairman of the party! The said guy used the party and the people
of the party who made him what he is now (president) as a one-time-
use ladder, where by when he used and reached at the top, he kicked
out the ladder to the ground, where by every body in that ladder
felt to the ground! Those were the people who believed him and thus
supported him and brought the victory for him. “Hal jazaaul Ixsaan
ilalixsaan” Is there any reward for good other than good (Allah’s
words)
When A equals B and A is 4 then B must be 4. This means, when one
cheats a sector of a community or a party it is therefore more
probable that he can as he already did, betray the larger community!
Somaliland, that is! Scary, isn’t it? Don’t be scared. There is hope
Allah said in his quran “Allah will never guide the snare of the
false ones” (Yussuf) “Ina laaha layahdee keedul khaaineen” and in
our side eyes are wide open guiding the Mother!
Betrayal is a form of deception or dismissal of prior presumptions.
It is the breaking or violation of a presumptive social contract
(trust, or confidence) that produces moral and psychological
conflict within a relationship amongst individuals or between
organizations or between individuals and organizations.
Often betrayal is the act of supporting a rival group or
substituting those who trusted one to other group or individual, or
it is a complete break from previously decided upon or presumed
norms by one party or by a man like Siilanyo from the others.
Someone who betrays others is commonly called a traitor or betrayer.
Betrayal is also a commonly used literary element and is often
associated with or used as a plot twist.
The big question is, whether the person who betrayed his trusted
supporters in particular communities would do the same in the bigger
community of communities, Somaliland that is?
Deceptive people and the unfaithful wash their hands of their
faithful and loyal followers and leave them in the lurch! That was
what happened and how it happened when kulmiye party won the
Somaliland elections. As the Somali saying goes: “Dab umunafaq
shiday moominbaa ku gubta”- “The fire set by a hypocrite, in the end
burns an innocent believer” this is what may happen as a result of
this unseemly act of betrayal!
what is the character of the doer of this malevolent act-betrayal?
Is it the hypocrite?
Is it the perverse wicked person?
Or is it both of them?
Who are these people?
Are they in one or one of the other?
What did the “Quran” said about them?
How the Prophet of Allah [scws] describe such characters?
So let us first define each one and then see where they meet their
twin brother- betrayer!
Webster’s Dictionary defines hypocrite as “person pretends of having
desirable or approved attitudes and principles but in actual fact
does not posses that”. Indeed that person is a wicked double faced
evil doer!
Also the above Dictionary defines perverse as “lead astray morally”
“He or she willfully determined not to do what is expected or
desired. Persistent or obstinate in what is wrong and turn away from
what is right or good”!
On the Moral and Religious aspect of the betrayer
The Quran said, “Al munaafiqeena humul faasiqoon” which means
‘hypocrites are perverse’. Therefore, only such characters
conveniently and comfortably could betray those who trusted them and
helped them, thus hurt them with no regards to what their actions
could do to those who ironically helped them in their time of need!
Enough for them that they reached their aim!! “The hypocrites’ men
and women are alike. They are of each other. The forms of hypocrisy
may vary, but they are all alike. They understand each other’s
hypocrisy, they hold together. They enjoin evil and forbid what is
just. They have forgotten Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Verily
the hypocrites are perverse” (Al Tooba, V 67)
The prophet told us and showed us in his “xadeeth” the
characteristics of the hypocrite as following:
a) The hypocrite, when he talks, he lies
b) When he promises, he breaks and betrays
c) When in conflicts he goes to the extreme
d) He pretends (falsely) what he is not-hides his real wicked
personality.
Also the prophet of Allah told the believers and said, “Man khasha
falaysa minee” (narrated by Muslim) ‘walciyaado billah.’ It means,
‘he who cheats is not from me!’
Psychological aspect of the betrayer-the perverse
Some people hurt others with out consciously knowing they did. In
this Kulmiye case the perpetrator was well aware of his actions
provided he is mentally healthy and it is assumed that he is
healthy. Others did this evil job consciously by betraying others!
When they reach their aim they leave those who help them and trust
them in the lurch! There are other people who experience a sense of
euphoria when they inflict pain on others by betraying them and
cheating them they derive pleasure from other people’s anguish!
Some people maliciously hurt others as an act of vengeance. This, I
think, is the most logical reason behind the need to cause others to
suffer – to get even for some reasons, real or imagined. I hope that
people who wreaked physical or emotional wounds on others have found
a valid reason to do so and not do the hurting solely on the basis
of some made-up thoughts or impressions concocted by malicious
minds; otherwise, the premeditated “hurting” only becomes a channel
for venting one’s grudges on the wrong party. To those who say,
“Vengeance is mine,” but this is not the case here Mr. Siilanyo’s
action because there is no apparent reason to avenge those who
trusted him and helped him in his time of need! It is a mind bugling
act! It doesn’t make sense!
Some people get manipulated to hurt others. People come in different
shapes and sizes. There are the “dictator” types who think that they
own people and that, they could impose on them. Trailing behind are
the “puppets” who seem to have no mind of their own, allowing others
to decide for them, never questioning the intentions behind this!
Some people are oblivious to the fact that they’re hurting others.
Call it lack of sensitivity, if you must, but some people can be
tactless sometimes they hurt others without really meaning to. The
hurting may come in the form of a seemingly trivial comment, or more
seriously a broken promise, or inconsequentially a missed
appointment, and even simple acts of courtesy that might have been
overlooked for whatever reason. However the case here is betrayal!
Silanyo’s act of betrayal on Gabiley and Houd may or may not belong
to this category!
Enemies can hurt you, but sometimes friends and loved ones can hurt
you more. Why? Because you love them, because you trust them,
because you believe what they say to you, that’s why. And therefore
you expect much from them. What do I say to those who don’t know
they’re hurting others? Always put yourself in the other person’s
shoes
But hypocrites and perverse don’t care a bit, like the case here!
. In order to live harmoniously with others, we sometimes willingly
give in and allow others to have their way, letting stale comments
and little acts of discourtesy pass, without so much as giving a
thought to them.
Whether it is out of sheer manipulation or mere insensitivity, or
because there are willing victims! But there were no willing victims
here in this case, in this betrayal by Siilanyo!
Political aspect
Awil and Riyaley persistently falsely, propagated during the
campaign that Kulmiyites are there for revenge! They are the SNM
veterans! They are there to punish people! They will destabilize the
country and disturb the peace!
What revenge, and from whom and for whom? No body asked these in the
early days of the campaign but the people later asked these relevant
questions and answered them by them selves. The people did not
believe the Remnants propaganda thus this nonsense, this political
talk points of theirs was busted in its place.
That was the people. The leadership of Kulmiye read differently!
They were scared of that falsehood! They believed that nonsense!
The only person who did not shrugged-off and did not say nonsense,
was the candidate of Kulmiye party! The only person who was scared
of this UDUB propaganda was the candidate of Kulmiye. Unfortunately
he believed this rubbish thus that is why He ran away from kulmiye
veterans! Proof of this is very apparent in how he formed his
government, provided there are no unelected elements doing the job
for him!
He mainly excluded the Mujahedeen, and abandoned his bases! Such
Politician has no backbone to stand up, and the recipient of the
betrayed people’s mass votes is a good example of this!
He withdrew his conscience and moral power and bowed to this
unfounded Remnant’s propaganda!
One may wonder and even argue that the guy was the chairman for the
very Mujahed he was made to be afraid of!
b) Another school of thought says that he was advised to abandon any
body of the Kulmiye community particularly those they though they
can disagree with Mr. Siilanyo, or challenge some of his policies!
In other words ‘keep away the gusty ones!’
Why did he capitulate? Why did he embrace what others who did not
give him the winning votes told him? Why, therefore did he leave the
people and the bases which made his victory possible, which made his
party viable, in the ledge?
In the end the guy showed that he is politically a Machiavellian in
its worst! One school of thought believes this!
The effects of this betrayal on Kulmiye and politics in the future!
Gabiley and Houd Regions were the main bases of Kulmiye party and
they are betrayed!
There were other kulmiye bases which suffered with the same fate as
those of Gabiley and Houd Region as well!
It’s not only the disrespect and demonism which Gabiley and others
have received from the person they helped him in time of need! The
person they trusted and took his word as a bond betrayed them? That
is the point! It is what matters in this context! A betrayer and the
betrayed and the lessons to learn from this evil act! Indeed, it is
a teaching moment in one way! On the other side no one will ever
believe a politician nor would any body believe a party system
because as Mr. Siilanyo pioneered it will end with clans dividing
shares in government! Not according to the party affiliation but by
clans even when they are in another party! ( the author believes
some accommodations with the other parts lost the vote) Another
destructive move on the part on Siilanyo!
How Gabiley and Houd will deal with these unheard and undeserved
humiliations and out right betrayals? They may swallow their anger
and pride and just say: “cheat me once, shame on you, cheat me twice
shame on us, or they may make a point in some point of time!” a
Siilanian lesson learned!
If the betrayer thinks he will get away with it because he my never
need them again, well it may not work that way!
Where is the “ONE {God} who all knows and all sees and all hears!”
Where are the reactions of the affected people?
And where are the- would be politicians who may pay this sin which
was no fault of theirs except that they associate the perpetrator in
clanship!?
The people betrayed are also there patiently waiting to respond to
that betrayal
First this may not happen the way he planned! Secondly others of his
ken my pay politically solely by association although it is unfair
(the author does not agree with that nor does he condone that, nor
call it fair). But the betrayer did not care who may pay the price!
Once he reached his target that is it for him as we see it! But we
the conscionable people, unlike him do care.
All the moral and conscionable sectors of the society do care!
Gabiley and Hood felt this betrayal more painful than others
(although others did feel the pain of being betrayed as well )
because the above regions showed a long standing commitment for the
Kulmiye party and delivered more than others as people and as
regions!
However, and in the end this will hem not them but the authors
thereof, the betrayer: “The end belongs to the Righteous” to the
people, to all those betrayed. To those who gave the recipient their
loyalty, trust, and voted for him in mass. Those who gave the
betrayer the winning vote!
The end belongs to them, and to Mother-Somaliland and to us all.
Prayers and peace
